New Media Dayton My first experience with New Media Dayton (NMD) was December 2010. I wasn't sure what to expect and resulted in meeting a "tech geek", friendly and great group of peers. I immediately felt welcome. My desire to be part of a forward thinking networking group provides valuable resources. As a result, I added the monthly event to my calendar and started volunteering. Now as a NMD board member, I put my event planning hat on and work with the core team to prepare the weekly Tweet chats, monthly meetups and monthly happy hour. Our goal is to make each event better than the last and provide day/hour networking options for area businesses. I am ecstatic to be part of such an intellectually stimulating and tech savvy group of professionals. My featured profile rotates on the site and can be viewed directly by the following:
"Go Mobile & Stay Local" August 2011 Co-Presenter
One of the fastest growing media channels is mobile. I presented this topic with a past colleague, Michael Taylor of BIA/Kelsey to wrap up the New Media Dayton summer SoMoLo or "mocial" series. Three key take aways: know your audience, increase digital media awareness and with mobile in mind, begin strategizing how media integration can carry your message across multiple platforms to maximize audience reach. Some photos from the event.
VerizonWireless Gadget Play Date
June 2011 I attended the VerizonWireless sponsored Gadget play date at Champp's in Centerville. A great opportunity for us "tech, gadget geeks" to test out the latest hardware on the 4G LTE network just released in Dayton-Springfield (the first 4G network by any carrier in the Dayton area!). Great opportunity to experience the network speed on their mobile devices, tablets and Mifi. I liked the speed!
Speed Dating with an "Edge"...Ford Edge, that is
I was presented with a wonderful opportunity to participate in the Ford "Drive One" program with Lebanon Ford. As I test drove the 2011 Ford Edge Limited, I blogged at The Eclectic Blog, Tweeted and shared on Facebook my experience. It was interesting the number of people who asked in person or shared online their feedback on this vehicle. Ford would be very pleased with the results: 100% satisfaction!!
My summary: a great vehicle full of digital awesomeness in which I feel completely safe. Doesn't get any better than that.
Jeff Cryder of Lebanon Ford did an excellent job creating an article that summarized my week's adventure. Check it out for yourself!
